Graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Genoa with highest honors, Professor Luca Bertoglio continued his studies by graduating from the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University of Milan in Vascular Surgery.
To date, Professor Luca Bertoglio is involved in the noninvasive diagnosis (echocolordoppler) and treatment of major vascular diseases (arteries and veins) of atherosclerotic, congenital, inflammatory, autoimmune or traumatic nature.
In detail it deals with:
- Carotid and supra-aortic trunk (anonymous, subclavian and vertebral artery) stenosis and occlusions;
- Degenerative or dissecting aneurysms of the aorta;
- Arteriopathies and aneurysms of lower limb arteries (femoral, popliteal, tibial);
- Peripheral arteriopathy in patients with diabetes (diabetic foot) or terminal renal failure;
- Arteriopathies and aneurysms of visceral vessels (superior mesenteric artery, celiac tripod, and renal arteries);
- Arterial and venous vascular trauma;
- Varices and arteriovenous malformations.
These pathologies will eventually be treated either by conventional surgery or by the most innovative minimally invasive endovascular treatment techniques or by a combination of both (hybrid techniques): the choice between the various methods is made according to the anatomy of the lesion, the characteristics and comorbidities of the individual patient, in order to ensure the best results in terms of immediate success and durability of the surgery over time.
