Specialist in Otolaryngology
Dr. Alberto Grammatica graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bari in 2006 and then completed his Otolaryngology residency at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in 2011. He performed ultraspecialty training in head and neck oncology at the National Institute of Tumors in Rome from 2011 to 2012. He was awarded the FEBORL-HNS (Fellow of the European Board of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery) certificate in 2013.
He performed training periods abroad in 2010 and 2015 at Hospital Universitarrio das Clinicas in São Paulo, Brazil, and at Toronto General Hospital in Canada.
He has more than 30 publications in international scientific journals, 5 book chapters, as well as numerous papers at national and international scientific congresses to his credit.
Creator and scientific leader of the SIM-accredited Microvascular Surgery and Anastomosis course at the Brescia Zooprophylactic Center since 2017.
He is currently working as a Level I Executive Physician at the Department of Otolaryngology at Spedali Civili di Brescia since 2013.
With more than 1,000 major oncologic surgeries to his credit, he has developed great experience over the years on reconstructions with microsurgical revascularized and loco-regional flaps after oncologic surgery. His major areas of interest are related to oncologic pathology of the head-neck district specifically of the oral cavity, oropharynx and larynx, and thyroid.
He also deals with benign oncologic pathology of the thyroid and salivary glands, precancerous/chronic inflammatory pathology of the oral cavity and pharynx, skin tumors of the cervical and facial districts. Another area of interest is benign pathology of the nose and sinuses (turbinate hypertrophy, chronic polyposis, nasal septum deviation), ear (chronic and acute otitis, muffling, hearing loss), and Waldeyer’s ring (tonsils and adenoids).
